We are makers — a design idea . 2020
Dahme Innovation (DI) is a regional network of companies, universities and research institutions across three collaborating municipalities just outside Berlin (Zeuthen, Wildau and Königs Wusterhausen). The goal of this merger of local resources is to become a more attractive region for companies and also people who are looking for a new place to work and live.
A name and a brand identity has to be created.
In addition to its infrastructure, high level of expertise and job skills this rather small science location wants to push the following:
. the close networking and thus the short distances, geographically and interpersonally
. its proximity to Berlin and BER airport
. the cohabitation of people, nature and science/economy
. the quality of life offered by the beautiful natural surroundings
The big players in the industry will remain the big players. The idea was to remain authentic, to emphasize the regionality and proximity to Berlin and to make the doer mentality perceptible, the visual identity brave and lively.
→ Logo symbol: striking and self-confident, standing out from its surroundings
→ Word mark: locally and internationally comprehensible
→ Font: restrained, informative, but also self-confident and strong
→ Colors: "earthy" color tone combined with powerful and bright colors
→ Iconography: quotes the extruded logo symbol
→ Visual world: authentic images of the region, partners and its people
→ Tone of voice: confidently communicating alongside the Goliaths of the industry
→ Overall appearance: represents the strategic content of the network and at the same time communicates in a striking and lively way.
→ Name: The selection ranged from functional to approachable or playful. dahme is the name of the area's river. And the selected name was the committee's favorite.
The process took place in conjunction with a regional development programme. Ideas such as connecting bike paths, rental bike options, event formats and more were developed.
